Applications and audition tapes are being accepted through October 12 for The Next Food Network Star, Season 4! I know I could never do anything like that, no matter how much I love cooking and watching cooking shows, but what about you? Gather has brought us so many chefs, whether professional or amateur and I've seen some pretty amazing recipes and beautiful photos, not to mention wonderful stories and background on the recipes. What about it? Are there any Gatherers out there considering applying?
If you want to know what is required, check out the Food Network, The Next Food Network Star website. You can apply via mail or online. I find it interesting that the "initial application", only asks two culinary questions: 1. Why should you have your own Food Network show? and 2. What is your unique culinary point of view?
Okay, good questions, but I expected a lot more questions so they can get to know the person a bit. Maybe that is expected to take place in the audition video?  Interestingly, they want people to upload their audition video on MySpace and then send the link to them.Â
I'll tell you, there is one person who I wish wanted to have a Food Network show and I would watch it religiously! That is my favorite chef, Deborah Scott of San Diego. She is not only a culinary genius, but her laid back, down home style is completely engaging to watch. I know this because I had the pleasure of attending a cooking class that she presented and I learned all about crab and how to make good ol' Outer Banks seafood dishes (the She-Crab Soup was to DIE for!) while being thoroughly entertained. I expect that her interest lies more in her restaurants than being a television star... too bad for us!
So, who's game? Who's applying? Which Gatherers are we going to be rooting for next season!?! Can I make one suggestion? I'd love a healthy theme or vegetarian, or something that tastes fantastic, but that won't make me guilty? Can someone help us out with this?
