Round One just ended - David Cook belted out a great version of U2's "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", and David Archuleta gave an amazing performance of ELton John's "Don't Let The Sun  Go Down On Me".

Simon Cowell gave round one to David Archuleta.

What do you think of it so far?

And what do you think of the boxing theme?
For me it seems rather silly and irrelevent...

If David Archuleta hadn't done so well tonight I would have said David Cook had it in the bag. However David Archuleta won over the judges tonight, so now I'm not so sure.

They are both great - I think David Cook ought to win if it's based also on showmanship, since he has more experience and more stage persona, but it's a toss up now.

They will both be big stars though...

American Idol is ALWAYS "rather silly," especially when they all do their crying at both good and bad news, not only for themselves but for every single person who has anything happen anytime.

I thought the boxing thing was cute, my husband thought it was stupid. I declare last night a tie, but over the whole season I have prefered David Cook.

I was very disappointed with Idol this season. I am glad Cook won but I didn't like the guests they had. Just all off this year. maybe next year will be better.
