Just a Quick Dabble and Question about Saving Grace, Burn Notice, Baby Borrowers, 60 Minutes and other Recent TV shows

I don't get to watch tv much but I finally got a chance to catch up. What do people think of these shows or any others? Saving Grace seemed to start off powerfully, considering I wasn't up to speed on that one. Baby Borrowers doesn't seem like "reality tv" to me nor does it represent teen pregnancy or raising teens, not with a Nanny Cam there 24/7 as well as the parents viewing everything, ready to jump in. One family member likes Burn Notice but I was particularly moved by 60 Minutes coverage of Remote Area Medical (RAM) a team of volunteer doctors who help those in need in rural or other areas in our country.

And I guess the New Yorker cover is the real talk of the nation, from what I can see and hear at many online sites and those friends I meet for coffee.

As for first and second impressions:
Saving Grace: held my attention, gritty and I found Holly Hunter's character to be intriguing

60 Minutes - made me cry about the state of the health care system and people, hard-working people, having to live with infected teeth and lack of decent medical care for a long time.

The Closer (forgot to mention I saw that one) Also held my interest, want to see more episodes.

 Baby Borrowers - not my cup of tea but if it discourages teen pregnancy as a "hot trend" then I can see the upside of it.

Burn Notice - I watch it to spend time with my husband. He likes it. Maybe it is geared mostly to males, although the lead character is pretty easy on this female's eyes ;)

I like Saving Grace and The Closer too. Haven't watched Burn Notice but my sister likes it.

I saw 60 Minutes last night and was shocked at the actual number of people in desperate need. I had a pretty good idea, since I am one of the millions that has not had insurance for most of her life.

I watch the Closer once in a while, not bad, but I don't freak if I miss it. I like Burn Notice, but that may be partly because it is the only thing on that is new.....

Nope. Haven't seen any of these but my mom likes The Closer - when she can't find CSI or Law & Order.

I watch lots of television, and other than 60 Minutes, I haven't watched any of those. I agree with Lainie...Ghost Whisperer is one of my favorites. As for the magazine cover, I thought it was terrible.

I've pretty much only seen Doctor Who and Weeds this summer and that's about it.

Saving Grace is a pretty good show. 60 Minutes is also good depending on what the content is. I have not watched the others.

I like Saving Grace and the Closer. I watch 60 min. once in awhile. Haven't seen Baby Borrowers.

I like the Closer; hubby absolutely loves it. The kids and I watch Dr. Who (I used to watch it when I was in college--Tom Baker!)

Lainie, I had a crush on Ghost Whisperer's hubby when he was on Relativity, about 10 yrs ago.

I watch CI, and Monk, and House. I don't think I watch anything on the Big Three any more. And I don't like the whole reality thing--how can it be reality if there's a camera watching?

Beaker- I agree. The Baby Borrowers is being promoted by some as a show which "teaches" teens the reality of being teen parents but how can it be "reality" when the teens are watched 24/7 by a camera, a nanny and vigilant parents who are willing to run in and give them advice. They are simply temporary babysitters for the actual parents, who (believe me) are watching the teens like a hawk and then scolding them on camera if they make mistakes. Of course, the teens get to live together with their boyfriends on camera....

I would like to know where they find contestants for some of these shows. Baby Borrowers is the most offensive. Babies aren't toys.

love The Closer and Burn Notice. Don't think being a guy has anything to do with liking the latter because my sister and I both love it!

I don't care for the Closer, dislike the main character. she doesn't care for anyone but herself. Love Saving Grace. A good police show with a very interesting twist. Setting it in Olkhoma was a brillant idea.

Saving Grace if one of the most grittiest and raw shows (I know the Shield) starring a woman that I have ever seen! The acting all around is fantastic. The conversations with the character that plays God, are so deep and sad sometimes. The show the Closer is a new favorite of mine. Kyra portrayal of a strong woman in a usually male dominated position is great. But she can be loving, and insecure at home with her man. Oh, and who thought of the southern accent? Nice odd touch. What can I say about Burn Notice?! Where have they been hiding Donovan. He seems born to play this part. His narrations on other show would be annoying to me, but on this show it fits right in. I've learned so much about how to be a spy! (smile). Glad in see Sharon Gless on tv again. Especially playing a part so different from her Cagney and Lacey days. One show not listed; but is on my list is Psych. This show has me laughing out loud. I have watched and been hooked from day one. You have to listen good to catch all the witty, quips and jokes. The writers are something else. A really refreshing show. Their outtakes and commercials are ridiculously funny. If you have'nt watch please jump on the bandwagon. It may seem to silly for you at first; but give it a chance, I bet it'll grow on you.
