Mamma Mia! What's Your Favorite Movie Soundtrack?

Mama Mia!, starring Meryl Streep, is a movie remake of the beloved musical that follows a mother, her bride-to-be daughter, and three possible fathers as they tell their story through the hits of the '70s band ABBA.

Check out this video of Amanda Seyfried who plays bride-to-be Sophie, performing "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) by ABBA.

Les Miserables .... by far!

I LOVE Les Miserables, but I also love Jeckyll and Hyde. I also like the Footloose soundtrack.

On the other hand, I love ABBA. Apparently, music just works for me.

Many of those already posted, but I'll add 'Dreamgirls' (musical and movie), 'The Wiz' ('Home'--still makes me teary), 'Bird', and 'The Whole Nine Yards'.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? had a very good soundtrack. So did Donnie Darko, as I recall. And the soundtrack for the surf film Thicker Than Water is pretty good, if uneven. Obviously, I don't have a clear-cut favorite.

Of course, back in the day, I would have answered "Purple Rain" without hesitation, and left it at that.

Also, it's not a movie, exactly, but the soundtrack for the Buffy episode "Once More, With Feeling" ranks almost embarrassingly high on my list.

The Big Chill - absolutely perfect capture of the best of the 60's
Forrest Gump - a close second
Probably Practical Magic. It has such a great mix of music, and some wonderful songs on it.
