The last couple of weeks I haven't been able to listen to the show during the real show time (thankfully there's an online archive) but this week it looks like the family has a little window of time that isn't booked, spoken for, arranged, or otherwise scheduled. Something tells me this week's show will be interesting, based on the description:
A Prairie Home Companion: American History, Chapter 44
Coming to you this week from the Fitzgerald Theater, we've got Dobro daredevil Jerry Douglas with grand champion fiddler Luke Bulla, singers Jearlyn Steele, Kari Shaw, Andra Suchy, Joanna Jahn, the Royal Academy of Radio Acting; Tim Russell, Sue Scott, and Tom Keith, Rich Dworsky and The Guy's All-Star Shoe Band, and much more. Join us this week for a post-election live broadcast performance.
Mrs. Sundberg has been on a soup kick and I think we'll whip up a batch of something harvesty and I'll have good bread and butter available. Does that sound good to you? What do you think of this week's lineup? And tell me, has it been a quiet week in your hometown?

Time for me to get off the internet!
Thank you for the welcome, Mariana!
We ended up having leftover TaterTot hotdish and turning off all the media, even the radio. No TV, no Internet... It was good family time. Thankfully, the show archive will be up soon and I can listen online. I'm still contemplating making a big mess of soup and bringing it in the rest of the week.
Cozy is right. On Sunday, I simmered away at a wild-rice vegetable soup, thick enough to be stew. It had chicken stock, wild-rice, onions, celery, black beans, sweet corn from some summer cobs, garlic, carrots, a splash of virgin olive oil, a coupla shakes of Worcestershire, a drip of cajun sauce, and random herbs grabbed from my dark cupboard and randomly shaken over the bright red cast-iron pot.
Its scent was a nice welcome after a long walk, and it kept the political bickering at bay!
