Broken China and How to make a mosaic.

Do you have a plate of your favorite china with a chip. I do. It's a large platter and I didn't have the heart to throw it out, so I kept it. For what? Not sure, but this morning I was watching Martha Stewart on Good Morning America, and she said to break it into several small pieces and glue onto a frame, planter etc. then fill the gaps with mortar, and after it dries for a couple of days, coat with a sealer.

Just like the Romans did and make a mosaic. I can't wait to get that plate down from the attic.

I watched that too and it got me to thinking about some dishes I have that would work for a project! I loved the picture frame she did!

I've been making some wooden crosses using stained glass I've cut. With glass, you should use unsanded grout to finish it. If you use sanded grout, it will scratch the glass and that won't be pretty.

Oh, another tip. When using unfinished wood, either seal or paint the wood so the moisture doesn't come up from underneath it and pop off the tiles. I paint my unfinished wood.
