If you are an avid facebook user or just a person who's been on facebook in the last couple weeks you probably have noticed strange status updates and pics of celebrities in place of pictures of the familiar faces of your friends.
The Doppelganger game/ trend on facebook is when you post up a picture of a celebrity that you have been told you look like or a celebrity you think you bear some resemblance. This game has led to interesting photos of people looking for their "Doppelgangers of the heart" like a white guy posting up a picture of Will Smith or an Asian girl posting up a picture of Roseanne, who she feels she resembles in attitude in humor, or just posted up to throw people off and make them laugh. The game has pervaded everyday facebook and internet use so much so that there are whole websites made to help you generate your celebrity Doppelganger. It is so funny how popular this idea is right now; especially because doppelganger is a German word that is said to mean: "a ghostly counterpart of a living person" (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/doppelganger). It also sometimes have negative or superstitious connotations.
The new trend of this week seems to be to go to www.Urbandictionary.com and to type in your name and see what comes up and to put that in your facebook status. It has led to some funny, and even lengthy status updates. For example my definition is: "Urbandictionary.com -- Define "kristen" -- Slang for "most awesome girl ever," usually extremely beautiful. can surprise you at what she can do. very outgoing. can be emotional at times, but mostly just wants to party!"
I wonder what FB, facebook, trend/game will come up next, but I do know that people can't seem to get enough of these two current fb games.
