Popular horror writer, Dean Koontz's "Frankenstein" series is a updated version of the Mary Shelley classic. It revolves around businessman Victor Helios and his creation, Deucalion. The fourth book of the series, Lost Souls, will be in bookstores in June.
According to Koontz's official website, producers Terry Botwick and X-Men Origins: Wolverine producer Ralph Winter have optioned his "Frankenstein" series. Winter and Botwick intend to create a movie franchise based on the series for the big screen.
Considering the series is set in today's New Orleans, it should have the modern flair to attract moviegoers. Koontz also has a large fan base who will surely make the trip to theatres.
I am not a fan of remakes, as they rarely live up to the original. However the idea of an update gives the classic a new twist, possibly introducing Mary Shelley to a new generation.
