Recently a weight loss company wrote a letter to Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe, calling her weight a "terrible affliction". They claimed that they were concerned about Sidibe's health and offered her a free supply of their product in return for a testimonal about her weight loss.Â
After reading the letter on TMZ.com, I was shocked that someone would have the nerve. If you're going to send free products to celebrities, how about if McDonald's sends some free burgers to Kate Moss?
Sidibe seems to be very happy and sure of herself. She exuded confidence when she walked the red carpet at the Oscars.  She told New York magazine, "They [the press] try to paint the picture that I was this downtrodden, ugly girl who was unpopular in school and in life and then I got this role and now I'm awesome, but the truth is that I've been awesome, and then I got this role."
Shock jock Howard Stern doesn't think Sidibe will have a future in Hollywood because of her weight. I think it is her confidence that will make her a success.
Gabourey Sidibe seems to know what many people still need to learn--being thin doesn't necessarily make you happy.Â
What do you think? Do you agree with the weight loss company?
