American Idol was bittersweet last night. Certainly bittersweet for the contestants as one of them had to go home. The focus of the show was giving back to children in need. They raised millions of dollars to give to sick, hungry and destitute children everywhere from Arizona to Ethiopia. It was truly touching and inspiring. It made me realize how truly blessed I am, how I have no reason to complain at all. It inspired me to use the what I do have to serve others.
I was also inspired by Joss Stone's performance of I Put a Spell on You. Now Nina Simone is to me one of the all time greats, so I'm very critical of any Nina remakes. But Joss Stone did an amazing job. Here it is (with eliminations):
Also on the show, Queen Latifah hosted. George Lopez did a hilarious roast of the judges. Alicia Keyes, the Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox and Elton John performed.
Tim Urban was eliminated (Poor Thing).
