May 2, the field of contestants on this season's 'Celebrity Apprentice' was pared down to six. With the team of Bret Michaels, Sharon Osbourne and Maria Kanellis taking on Summer Sander, Holly Robinson-Peete, Cyndi Lauper and Curtis Stone, which would be the next the go?
Michaels' team faced Summer's team in a marketing challenge where each team had to create three 30-second commericial spots for a plumbing, heating and air and electrical company. Michaels took the lead as project manager for his team, ultimately taking a big risk against the advice of his teammates in that he incorporated a 'crack' joke in the plumbing commericial against the wishes of the client.
Sanders, leading her team as project manager, focused the campaign on very conservative prinicples with straight copy and fairly generic jingles sung by Lauper, who barely recorded from laryngitis to perform the song.
In the end, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, One Hour Heating and Air and Mr. Sparky Electrical liked the bold freshness of Michaels' creative concepts, despite being put out by the humor in the plumbing add.
With a loss on their sheet, Summer's team faced the boardroom. Sanders took chef Curtis Stone and Cyndi Lauper with her, apparently leaving Peete free due to some woman bond the two have been forming over the course of the show.
Lauper was immediately dismissed by Donald Trump, as she did everything expected of her and even came through on the sining despite the troubles with her voice. In the end, Sanders wasn't able to come up with enough firepower to justify Stone leaving over her.
Summer Sanders was fired. Next week, the teams will be reshuffled, with Stone joining Kanellis and Osbourne, both of whom slammed Stone for being smug earlier in this week's program. Michaels will team up with Lauper and Peete.
Let the good times roll.
