The Black Eyed Peas, John Legend and Shakira are among the chosen musical acts to rock the World Cup opening ceremonies on Thursday (airing on Friday on ABC).
According to the AP, other artists on the agenda are Alicia Keys, Juanes and Hugh Masekela.
Maenwhile, the anthem for these games, Waka Waka, is being shot in 3D -- and, thanks to Sony, will be the first 3D music video starring Shakira (see photos and video here).
Also on hand, at least for part of the festivities that will launch the World Cup, is the great Nelson Mandela, who, at 91, does not partake in too many public events these days (more information on this amazing leader's planned presence here).
The World Cup is something to look forward to following, even for me who is not necessarily a soccer fan. Still, I think this global event will do a lot to bring cultures together in a way in which we haven't seen since the Olympics earlier this year. I am looking forward to these opening ceremonies where the Black Eyed Peas, John Legend, Shakira and many other big acts will rock the World Cup, launching the games in the style they most definitely deserve.
How do you feel about the World Cup? Will you be watching?
