Sarah Ferguson may get her own show on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). The former Duchess of York recently got caught on tape offering a tabloid access to her ex-husband in exchange for cash. This was just one of a a few scandals in which Fergie has been involved over the years. It was probably the most scandalous of them all (and hopefully the bottom of Fergie's sad spiral downward).
If a deal with Oprah does go through, and if Queen Elizabeth allows such access, this could be Fergie's real shot at turning things around for herself. The former duchess has suffered financial and emotional problems since she has been in in the spotlight. Now she has reported herself that she is broke. She is still living in her ex-husband's (Prince Andrew's) home. Ferguson admitted on the Oprah Winfrey Show after the scandal broke that she could not afford to have her own place. Her destitution and low self-esteem led her to desperation. That is why she fell for the sting that got her on tape, a little tipsy and offering up her ex for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The show on OWN is being described as a docu-series, which seems to be a high brow reality show. Cameras will get a glimpse into the life of this former royal. It could be interesting. And Americans seem to sympathize with Fergie because she is so fallible. She gets into all these messes, puts her foot in her mouth and has trouble with her weight just like regular folk. She's a celebrity, but she seems authentic. We just look at her and say "Bless her heart."
Queen "O" announced her exit from daytime TV will be September 9, 2011. Her Network, OWN, is set to launch on January 1, 2011. Oprah has not confirmed that the Sarah Ferguson show will be in the lineup. However, sources have reported that talks are underway.
