Steven Tyler of Aerosmith has apparently officially signed on to be a judge on American Idol, and Shania Twain could soon join him alongside mainstay Randy Jackson. That's the word out of Hollywood today, with The Hollywood Reporter citing the ever-popular "two sources near the talks," so you know it's true.
THR reports that Tyler sought "considerably less money" than did Jennifer Lopez, who was given the AI boot last week after purportedly asking for in excess of $20 million for the gig. Guess you can't blame a J.Lo for trying.
In the meantime, talks continue with faded country music star Shania Twain to be the distaff member of the show's on-air talent (well, if you don't count Ryan Seacrest). Whether either of these will provide the requisite bitchiness that's been Simon Cowell's stock in trade remains unknown. If anybody had asked Jackson's opinion, it probably would have consisted mainly of the word "dawg."
