Last night, rap star Drake's "Miss Me" Video featuring Lil' Wayne made its debut on MTV. The song is the latest hit from Drake's smash album "Thank Me Later". The video features rapper Lil' Wayne even though he's still serving time, thanks to video magic!
The new video starts with a bang, literally, as a Molotov cocktail gets lit up and thrown at the wall, then is rewound. The "Miss Me" video features a lot of fire, bright flashing lights and Drake rapping in front of various scenes. Of course there's rap video dancing girls included for good measure. Lil' Wayne who is currently serving time is shown via images of the incarcerated rapper on the walls, in flames or on television screens. The rap duo also just unveiled a new song together on iTunes and Amazon called Right Above It.
It appears Lil Wayne can still appear in videos and make hits despite being in jail, a good thing for one of rap's top earners in 2010, according to Forbes. It's also looking like maybe one day fans could get a collaborative effort LP from Wayne and Drake.
It isn't the last time Drake will work with the video's director either. The new video was directed by Anthony Mandler. According to MTV.com, he'll also be shooting the Drake video for "Show Me a Good Time". Also appearing in the video are Birdman as well as other Young Money crew members.
Drake appeared on U-Stream following the video's premiere to talk with fans about the new release. Aubrey "Drake" Graham was recently reported as one of the Top 20 earners in Hip Hop for 2010, so he's got reason to celebrate and keep going forth with new projects.  As for "Miss Me" this me be one of those videos that grows on people, but it's almost like you've seen it all before. These days videos really need to bring it conceptually with something unique. Several of Drake's videos have been all about lighting and just images of the rapper. Flashing lights, flames and straight rapping won't always get it done these days.
