On HBO, fans have a fictional polygamist family in "Big Love." Now TLC is tackling the reality of a polygamist family with "Sister Wives" premiering tonight at 10pm EST on the network. Big families are not new to the network. They have "19 & Counting" and "Kate Plus 8" already airing on TLC, but this series focuses on a man with four wives.
According to MSN, Kody Brown has four wives and thirteen children living all in one home. The family is a Mormon fundamentalist family. Brown talks about his family and the story they are telling as follows: "It just felt like our story needed to be told. There's a lot of stereotypes out there that are actually perpetuated by the press. I wanted to make sure the world understood that we're polygamists, but we're not the polygamists that you think you know."
The series will not focus on the Mormon religion or any politics. Instead the series will follow the family as they add a new wife, Robyn, into the mix. Brown has set boundaries. The series will solely focus on the family and how they live. There will be no drama like HBO and "Big Love" have created on their series.
"Sister Wives" will give viewers a look at polygamy. It isn't all that exciting, but it is a different life. TLC has released a clip of tonight's premiere, which you can see below. What do you think? if you search on Gather my name and polygamy, you will find many articles I have written on this.,
It is not correct to say Mormon Fundamentalist but to write
a family in the FLDS - Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ and the Latter Day Saints.
