Reinventing Scream, which kinda/sorta reinvented the horror film, can be a tall order, but the minds behind Scream 4 seem to have it covered, if the new trailer (below) is any indication.
Lots of iPhone business is to be had, as Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and crew are looking to capture Ghostface and his still-scary visage on their smartphone screens before bothering with the cops (led as always by David Arquette, arguably before the breakup with Courteney). A pair of plugged-in dudes explain some of the "new rules" to a classroom of potential victims, including the ever-important note that "Virgins can die now."
Given the utter lack of interest in director Wes Craven's last release, My Soul to Take (probably already on DVD as you read this), hopes have been understandably mixed regarding this reboot/sequel to the original trilogy. But, although trailers aren't the most reliable gauge for a movie's worthiness, Scream 4 looks like it could be oozy fun.
Is that Courteney's Gale Weathers in a Ghostface mask? Are the likes of Hayden Panettiere, Anna Paquin, Kristen Bell, and Community/Mad Men's Alison Brie on the hit list? We'll have to wait until April 15, 2011 to find out for sure...
