The Suburbs won the Album of the Year award for "Arcade Fire" at the 2011 Grammy Awards. The group beat out Eminem, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
Many people thought that this year would be the year that Eminem would win the Album of the Year award, but he didn't end up taking home the award. He, however, did win the Rap Album of the Year award.
The Suburbs are an indie rock band out of Canada. The group closed the 53rd Grammy Awards with their song "Ready to Start." Unfortunately, CBS cut them off with sponsor announcements, so that was pretty annoying for fans who actually wanted to hear the performance.
Were you surprised that Album of the Year award didn't go to Lady Gaga or Katy Perry or Lady Antebellum or Eminem? It was actually awesome to see an indie rock band win this Grammy award!
