Simon Cowell may hire Fergie as an "X-Factor" judge for the coming season. While none of the judges has been officially announced by Cowell and his new show, strong rumors indicate that Cheryl Cole and L.A. Reid are poised to take seats at the table. Now he seems to have his eyes set on one of the biggest pop singers out there who could also be a big draw at the judges' table.
Now this could just be posturing in order to drum up additional interest in "The X-Factor," but Cowell apparently told reporters that singer Fergie is in the running for a spot on the show. Fergie is, of course, the lead singer for Black Eyed Peas, and has also made a name for herself as a solo artist. She definitely brings a diva quality with her, but could be a very fun addition to the show.
"The X-Factor" is going to be Simon Cowell's attempt to break back into the reality competition genre in the United States after walking away from "American Idol." This is a very popular show over in Britain, but the producers and Fox feel that it can catch on the States during a 2011 fall premiere. It could really inundate Fox viewers with competition shows year-round as well.
Fergie isn't the only one that has been rumored to still be in the running as a judge, as names like Paula Abdul, Jessica Simpson, and Gloria Estefan keep popping up as well. With auditions coming up soon, this is a decision that has to be in its final stages, and it will be very interesting to see which way that Cowell decides to go.
Who do you think would make the best judge on "The X-Factor?" Is Fergie still too big for the show? Will you be watching "The X-Factor" on Fox this fall?
