If Vampire Diaries continues on for a third season on CW, Kevin Williamson might actually have two series on the same network in the fall. The Secret Circle is coming to CW, and it will be another series firmly based on the supernatural, but there is a focus only on witches this time around. Witches and witchcraft also play a part on Vampire Diaries, but The Secret Circle is all about witches. There won't be a vampire or werewolf in sight, according to Williamson.
Williamson also revealed the following to The Hollywood Reporter: "My biggest fear is I don't want to be split between the two shows and I don't want to water myself down and hurt either. My goal is for Julie [Plec] and I to stay focused on The Vampire Diaries, and Andrew Miller and his team will be in place and we will help and guide him along the way [on The Secret Circle]."
Another piece of information that came out of this new interview is the fact that there are no plans for any crossovers between the two series. The series are both based on book series by L.J. Smith, but they are separate books with their own stories. The cast of The Secret Circle already includes Gale Harold and Thomas Dekker with Britt Robertson. Harold currently appears on CW series Hellcats, and Robertson was a part of the cast of CW series Life Unexpected.
If all goes according to plan, expect Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle to both air on CW next fall. What do you think? Do you plan to watch??
