After season 7 of House ended, it was announced that Lisa Edelstein wouldn't be returning for the eighth season, and some wondered what this would mean for the cast. Everyone else is returning (though Jesse Spencer was the last one, and many wondered if he would be leaving as well), but who will be the new Dean of Medicine? A new series regular will be joining the cast, but it doesn't look like she's taking Cuddy's position in the hospital.
Breaking In star joins Fox medical drama
According to Deadline, Odette Annable will be the newest series regular on House, and word is, her character "meets Dr. Gregory House in prison," where the season is expected to begin for House. Annable's character is described as "a doctor at the prison whom House recruits to be a new member of his team of diagnosticians." It does look like the team needs some new blood—Olivia Wilde's film career has certainly taken off, and "she is not expected to be in every episode of" season 8—so of course, they'd need a new female presence. Odette Annable should fill that hole, but there are some fans who may wonder if this means the definite end of a series she starred in last year.
What does this mean if Breaking In somehow gets a second season? She'd still be able to do both, since "there is time carved into Annable's deal for House that would allow her to also do Breaking In." Though the comedy, which premiered last midseason and also starred Christian Slater and Bret Harrison, was part of Fox's cancelled shows in the spring, it's apparently not completely dead yet.
