BREAK is a project launched three months ago by writer and producer Louise Rozett. After the tragic events of 9/11, Rozett volunteered at Ground Zero serving food for the recovery workers. Deeply moved by the impact the events had on their lives, Rozett was inspired to write this play to remember, recognize and honor their sacrifices.
The play is "about the unexpected effects of the Ground Zero recovery effort on New York City's firemen and policemen, and their families" says Rozett on the project's website.
Entirely funded through donations, BREAK has a tremendous cast headed by John Finn, best known for his roles in Cold Case and The X-Files, Gabrielle Aimée (Ugly Betty), Liza J. Bennett (The Good Wife), Brian Patrick Murphy and Jane Dare Paulin. Actress Tracy Middendorf (Dying to Belong, Boardwalk Empire) makes her directorial début and is also one of the producers along with Louise Rozett and Michael Rozett.
BREAK will be presented at Teatro SEA during FringeNYC, New York's 15th annual International Fringe Festival, the largest multi-arts festival in North America. FringeNYC starts August 12 and for 16 days theatre companies from all around the world will perform in over 20 venues. You can download the festival program guide here.
