Kristen (Dorian Brown) and Ryan (Elijah Wood) have never gotten along on Wilfred, and there's a reason why. But that reason isn't the total focus of the show; as the episode's title "Anger" implies, the man-dog (Jason Gann) is determined to teach his friend a thing or two about letting out his anger, and not just on flies. "Anger is like herpes," the man-dog explains. "You're not meant to keep it to yourself."
Wilfred "Anger" starts where last week's highly humiliating episode ended: with Ryan hating the fact that he had to borrow $5,000 from his sister Kristen. Because of what his sister did for him, he doesn't feel like he can get totally angry at her, even though she's been just as unreasonable as always. She didn't want a tin container, but a silver one.
Because Kristen is planning a party for her boss in hopes of landing a promotion. So, obviously, this party is important to her.
Through all this, Wilfred is going through his own issues. He's jealous of Ryan's long-dead dog Sneakers, and he's determined to prove that Kristen likes him (even though she doesn't). This is truly a deadly combination for this bizarre FX comedy.
For one, Sneakers is suddenly possessing the man-dog's hairy body after he puts on Sneakers' sparkly collar. Naturally, Ryan doesn't believe the dog is possessed, but he has evidence to prove otherwise—the man-dog knows that Sneakers chewed the footie off of Ryan's pajamas.
As Sneakers, Wilfred says that Ryan didn't really kill him by leaving the pool gate open. It was Kristen, and she's been letting Ryan live with the guilt for 20 years. "Maybe we should go over to her house and make her a sad, sad girl," the man-dog as Sneakers says.
But is it true? The man-dog has long been known to mess with Ryan's head to get his way. And the man-dog has an ulterior motive; he wants Ryan to get angry at his sister and to prove that Kristen does like him after all.
Yet, he doesn't get on Kristen's good side very easily. After all, he not only pukes, but knocks over the food table. As Sneakers, he also pulls down a girl's skirt, and then dunks his head into the punch. He then takes it really far: he knocks Kristen and the good doctor into the pool—and then tries electrocuting him. Luckily, Ryan pulls the plug.
Despite Kristen's near death, Ryan finally tells her to shut up. He says how he really feels—and Kristen admits the truth. She killed Sneakers, and she has never really hated Ryan's hairy friend.
But the man-dog still hates her. He spills red wine all over her.
Wilfred airs on FX Thursdays at 10PM Eastern.
