Former DWTS contestant Kendra Wilkinson has written a book, and while it may be hard to fathom that someone like Kendra can read, let alone write, it looks at some hard-hitting issues like postpartum depression and suicide.
According to Hollywood Life, Kendra, who is married to Hank Bassett, is very open about her feelings on these two serious topics, because she experienced them firsthand following the birth of her son Hank, Jr.
"After giving birth, I never brushed my hair, my teeth, or took a shower. I looked in the mirror one day and was really depressed," Kendra Wilkinson says . "I thought, 'Look at me!' I had this glamorous life in L.A., and now [in Indianapolis] I didn't."
"A couple of times, I even said, 'I just have nothing to live for,'" says.
Kendra Wilkinson explains that in addition to her mood swings, she also experienced bouts of screaming, extreme jealousy, and emotional detachment. It was the detachment that led to thoughts about suicide.
While Kendra Wilkinson may not be a rocket scientist in terms of intellectual status or perhaps not very highly educated person, there is a good side to her having written this book. Lots of young women regard Kendra as a celebrity and they follow her on TV, Twitter and in tabloids. They might read what she has to say about her depression following her son's birth and realize that if she could get through such a troubling time, they can get through it as well.
Kendra Wilkinson's book is called Being Kendra: Cribs, Cocktails & Getting My Sexy Back. If it helps even one young woman emerge from the throes of postpartum depression, it will be worth seeing her on the shelves at Barnes & Noble, and on Amazon.com.
