The 2011 VMAs have no host, and that has caused many to wonder just how the awards show will work without somebody leading it. Some even wonder if this was Plan B for MTV. Perhaps they were not able to get the host they wanted.
MTV exec Amy Doyle confirmed that the 2011 VMAs will have no host. Wow. This is actually shocking news. Originally she said, "Hosting is such a unique element. We feel we got it right by putting new talent on the stage like Chelsea (Handler) and Russell (Brand). We're really challenging ourselves to find the right person so that the show feels complete." Since this comment, the network decided to have nobody host the awards show.
Are you worried about the VMAs with no host? It certainly is not like most awards shows, but maybe it will end up working out well. Now the audience will not have to suffer through disparaging remarks and attempts of the host to be witty and funny. What do you think? Does this change your plans to watch the show on Sunday? If it turns out to be good, then this may actually be a new trend for awards shows.
