Lady Gaga may have given the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards its most shocking moment. When the "Born This Way" singer hit the stage to introduce the tribute to the pop princess, she stayed in her character of Jo from the VMA opening.
As she continued to introduce the MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award winner, at one point Lady Gaga said she was inspired by the singer. Then, she said that she used to lay on her bed and touch herself to Britney Spears posters, which caused the crowd to chant "Britney, Britney, Britney."
When she came on stage to accept the Moonman, Lady Gaga tried to kiss Britney Spears, and for a second it looked like it would happen, but then Brit Brit said "I've already done that," and Jo said, "I don't want to piss off Gaga." Then, together, the two introduced Beyoncé for her much-anticipated performance as a "good old American guy and good old American girl." Yeah. Okay.
