Supernatural season 7 continues with "Hello Cruel World" this week, directed by Guy Norman Bee and written by Ben Edlund. Last week's premiere ended with the Leviathan in control (and Castiel presumably dead) and Sam missing, last seen seeing Lucifer as part of his hallucinations.

Sam's not doing too well now that the wall holding back his memories of hell is gone, and as seen in "Meet the New Boss," he's seeing all sorts of things—meat hooks, chains, and Lucifer—and the latest hallucination showed Lucifer telling him he never really escaped hell and it was simply his "best torture yet." The second season 7 episode is going to feature more of Mark Pellegrino as Lucifer, as Sam has to figure out what's real and what isn't. The Supernatural promo for episode 2 has already shown that these hallucinations are going to get much worse for Sam, as it looks like these hallucinations are going to include Sam having to figure out who's Lucifer, who's Dean, what's real, and what's in his head.
There's already a sneak peek from "Hello Cruel World" out (below) and it shows Dean pulling up in front of a warehouse and entering to find Sam standing there. However, Sam's standing there with Lucifer, who turns into Dean and says, "oh look, another me." Sam pulls his gun on Dean and says he thought he was with him. When Dean says, "Well here I am," Sam looks over at Lucifer and says, "I can't know that for sure." He doesn't remember driving there, and Lucifer says he drove, adding an aside to Dean. Sam shoots at where Lucifer's standing before turning back to pointing the gun at Dean. This is the scene that ends the promo and is part of the promotional photos released.
Poor Sam! He can't tell what's real and what isn't, and considering what he went through in hell, it's really no surprise. He needed that wall for a reason, and it's really too bad Castiel isn't around to fix that like he said he would. How will the episode end for Sam? Will Lucifer be back in any future episodes, or could they find a way to stop the hallucinations, therefore eliminating any chances of future appearances from Mark Pellegrino? Anything's possible on this show.
Meanwhile, there is the whole problem of the Leviathan being free, and Misha Collins has only been confirmed for the first two episodes of the season. How exactly will "Hello Cruel World" end for him? What will the Leviathan be up to while Dean's looking for Sam and Sam's dealing with hallucinations?
