Johnny Depp is seriously considering playing Dr. Seuss in an upcoming movie about the literary giant famous for such beloved books as Cat in the Hat, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and yes, Green Eggs and Ham. Will he play Seuss as a joke? Will be play Seuss as a bloke? All that remains to be seen, but in the wake of Depp's recent apology for a pretty controversial rape remark he made (comparing photo shoots to rape, specifically), maybe it's time for some positive news?
The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Johnny Depp will produce a live-action Dr. Seuss biopic, and he does have the option to star if he wants. If he wants?! Given Depp's awesome portrayals of Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland, does anyone doubt he's interested? As the Hollywood Reporter astutely points out, the Seuss deal "seems a great fit for his chameleonic personality and recent desire to make family films." Bingo! A perfect fit, in fact.
Fans, what to you think? Is Johnny Depp the perfect actor to star in a Seuss movie (as Seuss, we're not talking about Depp as Horton or The Grinch)?
