America's Got Talent superstar Jackie Evancho, the angelic little girl with the big voice, is about to make her movie debut alongside the likes of Robert Redford and Shia LaBeouf.
Most singers work in the music biz for quite some time before making the move to movies -- Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera are two examples of young stars who decided to try to make the switch to films after years of singing. However, super-talented Jackie is going to make her movie debut after just one year of being in the spotlight.
The 11-year-old wowed viewers on last season of America's Got Talent by singing opera songs that probably take older and more experienced singers years to perfect. In addition to being an excellent singer, the best-selling artist is also very articulate and poised when giving interviews, so she should be a natural when it comes to acting (it also helps that she's already performed in front of millions multiple times).
Jackie Evancho's big movie debut will be in the thriller The Company You Keep. In the movie she stars as the daughter of Robert Redford's character, former Weather Underground militant on the run from the FBI. Shia LaBeouf stars as a young reporter that makes things harder for the fugitive by revealing his identity.
The Company You Keep also stars Anna Kendrick and Terrence Howard as FBI agents, with Brendan Gleeson, Sam Elliot, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Nick Nolte, Chris Cooper, Brit Marling, and Richards Jenkins rounding out the cast. So Jackie Evancho will certainly be keeping good company in the movie.
But will Jackie be the next Dakota Fanning, Elle Fanning, or Chloe Moretz? She seems to be wise beyond her years like these other young actresses, and she's apparently already proved that she deserves to share the silver screen with some of Hollywood's biggest stars.
The Company You Keep won't be out until 2013, but hopefully Jackie's casting in the movie will lead to more acting opportunities, including some where she gets to show off her amazing voice.
