Fans following The X Factor UK have been suspicious of judge Kelly Rowland's mysterious illness. Rowland butted heads with fellow judge Tulisa Contostavlos during a recent show, then jetted to the US for what she said was a business commitment that had been planned for some time. Then Rowland missed the next show, saying that her doctors would not let her fly due to an illness. While some are not convinced by her excuses, her doctor has made a statement backing up her claims.
During the last episode of The X Factor UK, Kelly Rowland's act Misha B was criticized by the judges due to a reputation of being a bully backstage. Rowland took offense to the claims, and things got quite heated between her and fellow judge Tulisa. After missing the next show with little notice given, she is sharing with The Sun that she started becoming ill on the flight to the States after the show, and she thinks it is partly due to stress.
Shawn S. Nasseri, the resident doc for American Idol, shares, "Kelly has a severe throat infection that's like glandular fever." He adds, "It's extremely rare and I only see ten or so cases a year. She has had intravenous antibiotics and we've done scans. Hopefully she'll be better in two or three days, but she needs to rest up." Rowland says she's been crying for days over having to miss the show and leave her performers without her.
While Kelly Rowland can't be there in person right now, she says she's touched base with her girls every day. She shares, "We chose the songs at the start of the week and I've been getting recordings sent to me of how they're doing." She adds, "They are doing so well, they all need to step out of their comfort zone." While The Sun says Kelly was still hoping to fly back for the next show, the bosses reportedly admit it's "unlikely."
Kelly Rowland's spokesperson says, "Kelly's devastated she won't be here for this weekend's show. Her doctors aren't permitting her to fly." Surely her girls are anxious to have her back, and viewers are anxious to see how everybody gets along whenever she does return.
