Adam Lambert returned to the American Music Awards on Sunday night, the first time since his infamous 2009 performance on the same stage. Adam showed up to the awards this year making a cheeky statement, wearing the same suit that he wore when he performed in 2009. However, this time he donned a gorgeous long black coat over the glam silver suit.
Adam did not perform this year, but instead introduced One Republic's live performance. When introducing Adam to the stage, the announcer said, "Tonight he returns to the American Music Awards for the first time since 2009, Adam Lambert!" Adam started off by saying, "Wow, has it been two years already? Yeah, time flies."
The news that Adam would be presenting at the awards this year came as a surprise to many. When he deviated from the dress rehearsal for his 2009 performance, he kissed one of his band members, causing outrage from some viewers. Many fans thought they would never see Adam on the AMAs again as a result. However, American Music Awards executive producer Larry Klein said in an interview yesterday that "Adam Lambert was never banned from the show."
Unfortunately Adam did not sing at the awards this year, but that is because he has not yet released his new music. This weekend he announced via his official Twitter that his next album, "Trespassing," will be released in spring, 2012. He also revealed the title of his upcoming single, "Better Than I Know Myself."
Were you excited to see Adam return to the American Music Awards?
