Project Runway has announced the premiere date for its newest season; you will be treating days of New Year's Eve hangover with a dose of fashion on January 5th, if you plan on watching the season opener. And you won't need to spend several episodes getting to know all of the contestants, as they are all previous aspiring designers of the show. This season, appropriately entitled All Stars, will feature 13 designers who were on the previous seasons of the show. And the new garments will be judged by a brand new judging panel.
The designers will be competing for big prizes, as usual, but this one will have all of the designers sowing like mad; the main prize is an exclusive designer boutique in select Neiman Marcus stores and on NeimanMarcus.com. In addition, $100,000 in technology will be rewarded to the winner and an office space from HP and Intel, $100,000 from L'Oreal Paris, a "feature spread in Marie Claire and the chance the serve as the magazine's guest editor for one year". This prize is larger than any other in Project Runway history.
So who will be judging these former Project Runway contestants? According to a report by Digital Spy, Miss Piggy, Pharrell Williams and Miranda Kerr will be the primary judging panel. It seems like a wide range of fashion talent, meaning chances are that someone on the panel will like the craziest fashion ideas.
The former Project Runway contestants returning include Austin Scarlett, Kara Janx, Elisa Jimenez, Rami Kashou, Sweet P/Kathleen Vaugh, Jerell Scott, Kenley Collins, Gordana Gehlhausen, Anthony Williams, Mila Hermanovski, April Johnston, Michael Costello and Mondo Guerra. The list includes something old and something new, something young, something boring and something completely out there.
