In news sure to shock no one but the subject, Ed Schultz has been named one of the "Least Influential People Alive" by GQ. Given the MSNBC host's generally unfavorable reputation among both colleagues and viewers for his obnoxious delivery and backstage antics, that he remains on the air at all is a mystery.
Delivering exactly the sort of press GQ likely intended with the catty list, Ed Schultz went on a bizarre rampage about his inclusion by attacking CNN anchor and daytime talk show host Anderson Cooper: "Now, I know that Anderson Cooper floats around in that GQ crowd. I don't know if he's behind it, or whether their publicist at CNN... Let me just say: I'm kicking his ass."
Ed's comments seem borderline homophobic by his singling out the gay anchor. His odd comments went on as he defended himself by suggesting people ask the governor of Ohio about his own influence.
Perhaps the strangest part of the rant was his assessment regarding his inclusion on the list: "If you're fat, you've got red hair, look, they're going to pick on you. That's the way it is." Obviously Ed's never taken a peak at his fellow hefty and auburn-hued colleagues.
Perhaps Ed Schultz' untoward comments toward his fellow journalist will find MSNBC reevaluating his contract.
