After How I Met Your Mother got fans' hopes up with the beginning of this week's episode only to crush them and deliver bad news to Robin, what's coming up next for her? What will this mean for her relationship with Kevin?
HIMYM season 7 spoilers
Executive producer Carter Bays talked to TV Guide about what's coming up for Robin now that she knows she can't have children. Future Ted told his children that she does become quite successful in her career, and it looks like that's going to start soon. Bays has revealed, "We're setting off an arc to explore more of Robin's professional life." Will Robin be throwing herself into her work after receiving that news since she's keeping it to herself? Will she tell the others—or her boyfriend—that the option to have children has been taken away from her? It sounds like she may, as Bays has also said, "We're also looking to get into some of her issues — like the inability to open up and share with people. This will drive the second half of the season and come to effect her relationship with Kevin and other members of the group." While she deals with facing those issues, could that lead to her opening up to her friends? She does need to talk to someone about all of this, and considering she's dating her last therapist, she needs to find someone to turn to. Who will be the first person she admits her real secret to?
It sounds like Kevin could be sticking around for a while on How I Met Your Mother, but that's not the only obstacle in Robin and Barney getting back together. It has been revealed that there's going to be a new love interest for him in the second half of the season, and with Barney excited about having kids of his own—at least one day—could that affect the possibility of him and Robin getting back together? While future Ted had listed all of Robin's achievements, ending with she was never alone, there has yet to be any hints about the identity of Barney's future bride and Robin's marital status.
