'NCIS: Los Angeles' 'Higher Power' preview: Will they save LA in time for Christmas?

NCIS: Los Angeles season 3 continues next week with episode 11, "Higher Power." It's Christmas time, which means gift shopping, but the team also has to save the city before the holidays. Will they be in time?

"The NCIS team must locate a classified device with the power to destroy Los Angeles that was stolen from a college research facility. Meanwhile, Sam tries to track down a highly sought-after Christmas present for his daughter, and Eric meets Nell's parents."

While Sam and Eric's subplots do sound like they'll be entertaining, this case is going to put the city of Los Angeles in danger. Will the team be able to figure out a way to stop it before it's too late? In the NCIS: Los Angeles season 3 episode 11 promo for "Higher Power" (below), Eric calls the stolen weapon they have to find "big enough to kiss Los Angeles goodbye." Uh-oh, the team's going to have their hands filled as the holiday draws near, and Sam and Eric may not have time to even think about their personal lives—but will Sam find that present? How will Eric meeting Nell's parents go?

Back with the case, someone in a Santa costume and sunglasses cover a security camera in a parking garage with spray paint. Santa has the weapon they need to find. Of course, this wouldn't be NCIS: LA without an explosion, and this one's going to be on the roof of a building. The promo ends with Hetty's, "Don't make me cancel Christmas." Will they solve the case in time for the holidays and in time for Sam to find that present? It would be surprising if they didn't.
