American Horror Story's first season just ended last night, with the Harmons all dead and celebrating Christmas together in the house, but the second season is going to feature a change of houses—and characters.

According to TVLine, the second season will not have any of the same characters as the first season, but that doesn't mean all the actors are leaving the show. Ryan Murphy revealed, "There will be familiar faces and some new faces. People that are coming back will be playing completely new characters." That's because "the second season of the show will [feature] a brand new home or building to haunt" and "will also have a new overriding theme." It is already known that Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton aren't returning as series regulars in the second season, but so far there's no mention of the other cast members. The Harmons did seem to get a somewhat happy ending (well, as happy an ending as you can get as a ghost family in a house filled with other ghosts who aren't exactly wanting to welcome you with open arms), and there would be only so much they could do with the Harmons scaring families away from the house like they did in the family. It only makes sense to move to a new location, but it is intriguing that some of the cast could be back as new characters. Will that work, or will it be too hard to disconnect them from their season 1 characters since this is the same show and still about horror stories? Where will the show be moving to?
All the information that has been revealed is just a tease, as fans will have to wait to hear more specifics in February. However, Murphy did say, "There's a clue in the last three episodes where we say what the second season will be." While the story was obviously over for the Harmons and the house in the American Horror Story season 1 finale, "Afterbirth," it did end with you wondering what else that demon child was going to do—and what Constance was going to do with him. It looks like that will just be left open since they're moving to another house and new characters.
