When Gossip Girl returned this week from the midseason break, they introduced a new obstacle for Chuck and Blair, and this one isn't one that can be easily overcome. What's coming up for "Chair"?

Admittedly, the storyline that has been introduced is quite odd. Apparently, because Blair was praying and promised God she'd marry Louis if Chuck lived, she's now going through with the wedding. When she decided to change her mind, she saw Chuck almost get hit by a car. Yes, it's a bit of a stretch, but executive producer Josh Safran has told TVLine, "Religion has [always] been a part of Blair's life. She went to confession as far back as Season 1. Even though she didn't fully believe in it, she was there. We really did believe, especially in light of what has happened to Blair after the accident, that she feels even more strongly about this connection and this pull. It's something that we're not shying away from. It's something that we will delve into in future episodes." It's all a matter of belief, and right now, Blair believes she's doing what she has to in order to keep Chuck alive. It's heartbreaking to watch, but there's still the chance that she won't go through with the wedding in the Gossip Girl 100th episode.
This storyline does also give fans a chance to see how much Blair loves Chuck, but it's still sad to see the two apart when the feelings between the two are obviously so strong. At the same time, it's also good to see Blair sticking to her beliefs, at least for now, but you have to wonder just how long that can go on before it gets to be too much and before she breaks. Even though she cares about Louis, there's only so much someone can take marrying someone when they love someone else more, and it wouldn't be surprising if fans see that moment where Blair cracks in an upcoming episode soon.
