Lana Del Rey's upcoming concert tour is no more. It has been cancelled until the singer can manage to "reinvent" her image. After appearing on Saturday Night Live a few weeks back and giving a rather poor performance, word has run rampant about her lack of singing skills and the letdown that came with being the musical guest on that fateful Saturday night.
According to a report from PerezHilton.com, Lana, whose real name is actually Lizzy Grant, even made a sort-of unwitting repeat visit to SNL on subsequent episodes, with Kristen Wiig playing Del Rey and making quite the mockery of her lack of vocal abilities.
Now her management feels she needs to "distance herself" from that mockery before proceeding with an actual concert tour.
"She was very upset," a source says. "They figure it allows time for her to clear her head, then go back to selling tickets. More importantly, they figure, the extra time gives them more distance from SNL."
Are they really blaming SNL for the fact that Lana Del Rey gave a very poor performance? That seems ludicrous, doesn't it?
Did you see Lana perform her way-less-than-stellar set on SNL? Do you agree it was a far cry from what it was cracked up to have been?
If Lana Del Rey really was a top-notch singer, then no amount of poking fun on behalf of Kristen Wiig or even the entire SNL cast could possibly keep her from being successful on the concert stage. It seems the writing is truly on the wall in this case, don't you think?
