Psych "Let's Doo-Wop It Again" is a bit of a musical episode, because Blackapella is back. But since Shawn (James Roday) is joining the group, he wants it to be called Quarter Black. But that's basically besides the point, because the real issue at hand is Deacon Jones (Cheech Marin) getting shot at his own fundraiser.
So is it Deacon's CFO Tina (Liza Lapira), who is skimming money from the charity? Or is it one of the gang leaders, who are angry at Deacon for taking their gang members off the street?

But Shawn doesn't get to participate in this case as much as he'd like. Because as he's singing with Gus (Dule Hill), Tony (Jaleel White), and Drake (Mekhi Phifer), he bows and is racked by a sudden pain. His appendix has burst, as previewed here, and he ends up in a hospital bed right next to Deacon.
This leaves Gus and his Blackapella friends to solve the case. But they do need a bit of help from Lassie (Timothy Omundson) and his prisoner girlfriend Marlowe (Kristy Swanson), because she can get close to the Rolling Waters gang leader Lil Sis. After punching Lassie, Marlowe does get the intel she needs: that someone has been skimming money.
Even though Shawn is laid up in bed, he's intent on participating in the pursuit of suspect number one, Tina. So Gus brings him along via iPad, which is the first time Shawn has used the technology for anything other than Fruit Ninja.
But Tina isn't the shooter. In fact, she discovered that it was Deacon taking money from the charity and paying it to a guy named Chewie.
And, luckily, Deacon is in the bed next to Shawn. He easily explains what he was doing; Chewie only would let kids out of his gang if Deacon paid him. But since that's illegal, the cops don't get called, and Gus once again mans up and leads the investigation -- until Tony and Deacon get kidnapped, just like members of Blackapella got kidnapped the last time they tried helping out on Psych.
Since Lassie is wearing his "probable cause door kicking shoes," they do manage to search Chewie's place. It's there that Gus and iPad Shawn realize that Chewie's license plate is a vanity plate bragging about his territory. That intel leads to a house, which leads to Chewie, which leads to a ton of shooting. Shawn wants Gus to stop Chewie, and declares, "Be a man! Nurse, I would like a little more of that jello please."
But then Chewie's car blows up. So who really is the shooter? Apparently Tony and Deacon overheard Chewie claiming he could prove he didn't shoot Deacon. That's because the bullet ended up in his arm.
Shawn sends the police and Gus off to question Tina, but something doesn't feel right about that send-off, or so Gus thinks. Because Shawn was only 100% sure, rather than 200%. And so they head to the hospital. Just in time too. Deacon's security guy Jimmy was the shooter. With Deacon getting so many guys off the streets, his business was bad. But since he can't very well shoot Shawn and Deacon in the hospital, he just ups his morphine, or so he thinks.
As Jimmy waits for them to overdose, there's a perfect Cheech and Chong moment, as Shawn declares, "I'm on a banana sled, Jack." But Shawn isn't hopped up on drugs, since his dad refused to pay for pain medication after 24 hours. Just as Jimmy turns his back, he tries wrestling him to the ground. Luckily, Lassie and Jules (Maggie Lawson) show up.
But, wait, there's one last musical number, and this time it's at the women's prison with Quarter Black. It's a song about a lockdown, and, sure enough, the guys start a riot.
