Fringe season 4 continues next week with the second of eight new episodes in a row with episode 16, "Nothing As It Seems." There's going to be a case that's very similar to one they already took on in season 1's "The Transformation."
Fringe Season 4 Episode 16 "Noting As It Seems" Promo
"The Fringe team faces a case that appears familiar to Peter. Strangely, it takes place in this world."
So as the last episode showed, Peter is home—has been this entire time—and now reunited with Olivia. However, there's not much time for celebration because they're going to have a case to solve—and it's one that will be very familiar to one they've already solved years ago.
In the Fringe season 4 episode 16 promo for "Nothing As It Seems" (below), that same problem from the season 1 episode is back. A man closes himself into a room as his nose starts bleeding and he bows over in pain, spikes coming through the back of his shirt. Peter explains, "He was given a designer virus that was programmed to turn him into some kind of creature." This creature bursts out of the bathroom. Nina tells them David Robert Jones oversaw the project. It keeps coming back to him. So what exactly are they dealing with now? Based on what Astrid says and what's seen in the promo, "hybridization" and "guided mutation." It looks like it's going to be a tough case—and a dangerous one for Lincoln. To make things worse, Olivia's back in therapy, but it looks like she'll be able to handle that.
With season 4 winding down, the question of a fifth season still remains. Hopefully, these last episodes are strong enough for Fox to consider renewing it. It looks like "Nothing As It Seems" should be a good one, and it's always a good thing when shows recall things from the past, as long as it's done in the right way. They seem to be doing that here.
