Supernatural season 7 continues with episode 18, "Party On, Garth." Trevor, drunk, joins his friends and hears something the others don't. After he runs off, his brother goes after him and finds him dead, stomach ripped out. After talking to girls who were with Trevor, Garth finds out about Jenny Greentree, a spirit who supposedly haunts the woods, and burns her bones. However, that didn't do the job, as Trevor's brother has some drinks before wandering the woods, seeing something, and getting killed.
Teaming up With Garth Again
After an update from Meg on Castiel, Dean gets a call from Garth, and the Winchesters meet up with him—posing as the victims' cousin—in the morgue. Garth is picking things up as they go, such as that the victims were brothers, and while his EMF didn't pick up anything, Dean's does. However, it looks like the victims were mauled—more monster than spirit. Sam's research reveals that the victims' father, Jim, owns ThighSlapper Ale, and Garth goes to change into Fed clothes. "He grows on you," Dean tells Sam.
From Marie, Jim's daughter, and Randy, who runs the business with Jim and is known as the "ax man," they find out that the third business partner, Dale, killed himself, and now his wife is suing. Randy also reveals that they're selling ThighSlapper, and Sam notices a box with Japanese writing in the office. Tess accidentally has some of her mother's drink when she goes to greet Jim when he comes home, and then sees the monster kill her mother.
In the motel, Garth works on his EMF meter as Dean drinks from his flask, and it starts going off. Dean passes out ThighSlappers, which turn out to be good, and Garth gets drunk after one. Sam's research pulls up that Dale left ThighSlapper two weeks before he died. Was he pushed out because they wanted to sell? Is he their ghost?
At the most recent crime scene, Dean can tell Tess saw something, and surprisingly, Garth's sock puppet, Mr. Fizzles, works at getting her to tell them she saw a monster after she accidentally drank alcohol. Meanwhile, Sam finds out from Dale's wife that he sent the others a gift: sake in a box with writing on it. Dean realizes what they're dealing with—a monster they have to be drunk to see—and when he takes a drink from his flask, Garth asks about it. Once he hears it was Bobby's, he suggests he's hanging around and that's why the EMF has been going off. He burned his cousin, but he hung around.
Time to Get Drunk on Supernatural
Sam and Dean find the Japanese box in the ThighSlapper office, and someone's been drinking the sake. Sam looks up the video feed for the office, but when they don't see anything, Dean brings out the alcohol, and Sam wonders if Dean can even get drunk anymore. And so the drinking begins. On the video, the monster appears as Trevor drinks the sake and follows him out. Randy finds Sam and Dean drunk, but Garth tasers him.
Sam and Dean go to a Japanese restaurant to have the box translated and find out about the Shojo, an alcohol spirit. They join Garth back in the motel, where he has Randy gagged in the hot tub. Sam reads that the will of a Shojo can be harnessed with the right spell box and it can be killed with a blessed samurai sword. Since Dale saw the company as his baby and Jim and Randy took it from him, he was planning to do the same to them with the kids. When Garth's EMF goes off again, he tells Sam his theory, and it turns out Sam had the same one. He even tried using a talking board, but as he tells Dean, he would've told him if he was there.
While Dean gets a samurai sword blessed and Sam keeps an eye on Marie in a bar, Garth talks to Randy about the janitor he keeps giving breaks despite being the "ax man." The janitor is his son, and Garth grabs alcohol before heading to the brewery, where the Shojo is following Lee.
Dean heads to the brewery with the sword, as does Sam—once he steals a taxi ride using his FBI badge. Garth grabs Lee and explains everything. Lee doesn't believe him—until the Shojo throws Garth through a window. Lee runs...right into Sam, who tries to protect him, but the Shojo throws him into a wall and knocks him out as well. Fortunately Dean shows up with the sword, but the Shojo knocks it out of his hand. Somehow, the sword slides across the floor back into Dean's hand, and, with Sam directing him as to where the Shojo is, Dean kills it. Garth comes to, wondering, "What'd I miss?" Sam watches as Dean calls out to Bobby: "Are you here?"
Garth hugs Dean and Sam goodbye, and as he drives off, Sam comments that he did grow on him. Then it's time for a Winchester talk. Sam wants to talk about what he saw in the brewery and follows Dean back in the motel room. Dean tells him about the sword before listing everything else they've noticed, but Sam points out that regular people think they see loved ones they've lost everywhere. That's what they're doing, and he points out he checked it out. Dean still wonders about the sword, and Sam suggests the Shojo since it did slam doors from across the room.
Dean does say that Bobby would let them know if he was a ghost, and they head out to the car...leaving Bobby standing there. Dean goes back inside, and Bobby thinks he sees him, only for Dean to grab the flask. Bobby protests, "I'm right here, you idjit," but Dean doesn't hear him and joins Sam in the car.
