Dancing with the Stars 2012 week 5 aired April 16 on ABC and featured the nine remaining couples as they indulged their sexiest sides in the wiles of Latin Week. Actor Jaleel White kicked off the two-hour episode with a Samba that earned a series of bizarre comments—but decent scores—from the judges.
Jaleel and partner Kym Johnson opened their rehearsal segment by ruminating over the shocking elimination of the interminably sunny Sherri Shepherd, who got the boot at the close of week 4. The pair vowed to do all they could to stay out of the bottom two and away from the Dance Duel. Jaleel promised to "step it up" by working on his "technical" details for head judge Len Goodman, and his booty shaking skills for Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.
When showtime rolled around, Jaleel and Kym hit the DWTS ballroom to the sounds of the Gloria Estefan hit "Rhythm is Gonna Get You". It was definitely an improvement over last week as Jaleel put his loose hips into gear and strutted his way through the routine quite nicely.
The judges were duly pleased. Len said Jaleel had "rhythm in abundance" and added that "your bum was going like you were chewing a toffee." Bruno also appreciated the effort, noting that it looked like there was "a mini me inside operating [the wiggle]." Carrie Ann finished the judges' remarks by praising his "attack and fire." She did, however, caution him against letting his arm fall dead while not in hold.
For their Samba, Jaleel and Kym scored a trio of 8s, for a week 5 total of 24 points. The figure puts them in the middle of the pack entering tomorrow's elimination; they trail co-leaderboard toppers Katherine Jenkins and partner Mark Ballas and William Levy and partner Cheryl Burke by 5 points.
To see if Jaleel White's shakealicious little mini me did enough to keep him in the competition for another week, tune in to the Dancing with the Stars 2012 week 5 results show tomorrow at 9 PM on ABC.
