On last night's episode of The Voice, the three performers left on Team Blake, Erin Willett, Jermaine Paul and RaeLynn stepped on to the stage to find out which one of them were saved by America's votes. Jermaine Paul received the most number of votes and automatically moved on to the semi-finals leaving Erin Willett and RaeLynn literally singing for their lives. Apparently, America thought the men were stronger on this episode of the hit musical reality show.
Erin Willett took to the stage first performing a very powerful rendition of Proud Mary. With strong vocals and a good stage presence, Willett delighted the crowd and Christina loved her energy which kicked in after her slow, sultry, signature Tina Turner start. Willett gave this performance her all. If you missed her taking to the stage last night, watch it here in this NBC video clip.
Viewers of this show know well how fond Blake Shelton has been of artist RaeLynn, the country crooner who reminds him of a younger version of his wife, Miranda Lambert. It was difficult to imagine Blake eliminating this young star, but since this is a competition, you had to know anything could happen. RaeLynn performed If I Die Young; and when it came time for the judges to weigh in, Adam tells the young singer he's always been a fan of hers. He also claims if he had been her coach, he would have curbed the inflection in her voice. If you missed Rae Lynn's performance, take a look at it here.
When it came down to the wire, Blake struggles making his choice after admitting he has a bond with both these performers for different reasons. He claimed this moment was tougher than he imagined. With pressure from Carson Daly, Blake finally announced he was going with Erin which means his young protégée RaeLynn is heading home. Do you think Blake Shelton made the right choice here?
Don't miss the next episode of The Voice as the competition where Team Adam and Team Cee Lo will square off and cope with those ever popular 'instant eliminations' next Monday night.
