On The Voice 2012 for the Tuesday elimination show, some surprise goodbyes took place while one good surprise came from superstar guest Justin Bieber.
But first the bad news.
Christina Aguilera had a tough job following the evening's elimination the night before when she sent frontrunner Jesse Campbell packing. She explained to the crowd that even though not all her fellow judges were feeling that cut, she was "OK with that." She said "I am no stranger to controversy..." and pointed out to all who would listen that she kept to her strategy and followed her heart.
At that point, it was time to follow her heart and keep to her strategy with the remaining three contestants as one more had to go.
Those three were Ashley De La Rosa, Chris Mann, and Lindsey Pavao, with the opera singer being saved by the number of votes he received.
And so De La Rosa and Pavao were looking at Xtina to get them a break. Then these two had to sing, and they did pull out a couple of strong tunes even though the situation was anything but easy.
Ashley chose to give her The Voice judge a dose of Lady Gaga so she sang You and I. All of Christina's colleagues were impressed by what De La Rosa had given up on the NBC stage, with Blake admitting that she had won him over and he would go out and buy her record.
Then it was time for Lindsey Pavao to take her so-called last chance. She chose to sing a cover of Mike Posner's Please Don't Go that left both the singer and her coach sobbing.
After these two diverse performances on The Voice, Christina Aguilera had to choose; and while she told Ashley De La Rosa that she had grown so much in the competition and that her work was dynamic, she was going to go with Lindsey Pavao for the save because she has a "special connection" to her voice.
Although this was hard to handle, Xtina did tell the two of them that they are both "complete superstars" before she sent Ashley packing.
On a high note, Justin Bieber was on hand to cheer everyone up (see review here) and in doing so he dropped a bomb on audience: This superstar would be back for the season finale of this TV talent show to sing for the winner. And so, with that said, keep watching The Voice to find out who makes it through the rest of the eliminations to become the top dog of this small screen challenge.
