The Vampire Diaries season 3 continues next week with episode 20, "Do Not Go Gentle," and while it is the night of the Decade Dance, it's also time for some spells.
Extended Vampire Diaries Season 3 Episode 20 "Do Not Go Gentle" Promo
It seems like everyone's going to have something to do in this episode, which will see plans for the dance threatened with Esther's plans for the night. Will Rebekah finally get to attend a dance, just while being possessed by her mother? It looks like there's going to be enough going on that this night could end tragically.
In addition to the shorter preview that aired after episode 19, "Heart of Darkness," there's a longer one out as well. The extended The Vampire Diaries season 3 episode 20 promo for "Do Not Go Gentle" (below) shows Caroline asking Elena about her date as Elena puts on a feather boa while the dance is being set up. The previous promo only featured Caroline's voiceover. This new promo also shows Stefan picking Elena up for the dance, rather than just showing them on the dance floor. While the last episode was one for fans of Damon and Elena's relationship, this one seems to be one for fans of Stefan and Elena together. The dance looks beautiful, from the decorations and The Roaring 20s sign to those in attendance, but of course something has to go wrong (this is Mystic Falls after all).
This preview does show more of Esther-possessed Rebekah talking to Alaric about her big plans for the night ("Come now, hunter"). Uh-oh, you can't help but be worried when you see that, combined with Alaric's words to Elena later in the promo. And is that Bonnie torturing Damon close to the end? What's that about? Is he going to do something else to deserve that or is it just for his past actions (he did turn her mother, after all)? Either way, Bonnie looks angry, but as promotional photos from "Before Sunset" have shown, he's going to be the one supporting her when Stefan finds them on the other side of the door. Perhaps this is just something Bonnie needs to get out of her system for them to move on (you can't blame her if it is). Will this somehow be related to the spell they need her to undo or at least Damon telling her about it?
