Dancing with the Stars 2012 is proving a dangerous place for TV personality Maria Menounos. First came the cracked ribs and the stress fractures in her feet. Then she slammed her face into the floor during week 5 rehearsals with pro partner Derek Hough. Now, entering Motown week, Maria is facing yet another stroke of bad luck: a fever.
She tweeted the news to fans Sunday morning, writing "A fever has plagued me since last night....thought I was good this am but now it's back!just in time for rehearsals.Oy"
It's certainly an unfortunate development for Maria, but it's doubtful that it'll keep her down. She's expressed an admirable can-do attitude all throughout her tenure on DWTS, so barring a major illness, she'll still be in the mix come Monday evening.
Despite a comparatively weak start, Maria and Derek have gradually risen on the judges' leaderboard. Over five dances, they've scored just eight fewer total points than competition frontrunners Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas.
Although not superb while dancing away from Derek, Maria is very good while in hoofing in hold, so the pair will very likely earn high marks for their upcoming Foxtrot. And as one of the judges' preferred couples, expect them to do well with the Motown Marathon, too.
To see how Maria Menounos fares with the Foxtrot, Motown and a fever, tune in to Dancing with the Stars 2012 week 6 on April 23 at 8 PM on ABC.
