Dancing with the Stars 2012 resumed April 23 with Motown Night. The ode to classic music wound up being a great evening for Welsh opera singer Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas. The powerhouse duo once again secured the top spot on the judges' leaderboard, this time courtesy of two super-charged routines, including a spicy individual Samba and a Marathon-dominating Cha Cha Cha.
During their rehearsal session, Mark pressed Katherine to "get hold of the bounce" needed to deliver a good Samba. He also noted the need to "have really strong technique" heading into the meat of the DWTS competition. Katherine rose to the challenge and felt confident headed into the live show.
The Temptations provided the couple's music in the form of their hit "I Can't Get Next to You," and Katherine and Mark once again performed a polished, near-perfect routine. They packed plenty of content and more than enough bounce into their Samba.
The judges were pleased with the final product. Head honcho Len Goodman declared that he would start calling Katherine "the midwife" because she "keeps delivering week after week." Bruno Tonioli noted, in his usual colorful form, that "the marriage of Brazil with Funkytown has never been more exhilarating." Carrie Ann Inaba finished up the commentary by dubbing the performance "amazing."
Katherine and Mark earned 29 points for their Samba, a mark which tied them—temporarily—with actor Jaleel White and Kym Johnson atop the week's leaderboard. The tie was broken during the Marathon Cha Cha Cha, which Katherine and Mark dominated, winning 10 points and taking sole possession of the week 6 lead with an impressive mark of 39 out of 40 possible points. Jaleel and Kym rest in second place with a total of 37 points.
Could Katherine Jenkins be in trouble heading into Tuesday's Dancing with the Stars 2012 week 6 results show? It would seem like insanity to think it a possibility, but America is fickle when it comes to reality show voting trends. To see how it plays out, tune in to ABC Tuesday night at 9 PM.
