If you're a One Direction fan and you live Down Under, you might have a really hard time seeing Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne in concert. Sixteen of their 20 shows for 2013 have already sold out.
According to a report from SkyNews, the boy band announced their plans to return to Australia next year the night before they left the country earlier in April. When tickets for the Sydney and Melbourne shows went on sale, Twitter went wild. Some fans scored tickets while others were left sorely disappointed. At one point so many people were trying to get tickets that the entire site froze.
Has there been a boy band in recent history that has caused this kind of excitement and commotion? Did 'NSync and the Backstreet Boys freeze up ticket sites with fans clamoring to buy tickets?
It seems the One Direction guys are as fond of being Down Under as fans there are of having them. Harry Styles recently said that Sydney was one of his favorite places to visit.
"My favourite places were New York and Sydney—I'd never been to Australia or New Zealand before, so that was sick," he said.
One Direction's album Up All Night has already made Billboard history and their single What Makes You Beautiful is burning up the airwaves and iPods around the world. If the band comes to a region near you, however, jump fast on getting those tickets. If not, you'll be left out in the cold like some of their fans Down Under.
