The May 14 episode of Dancing with the Stars 2012 could well be dubbed 'A-game night', as the four remaining couples fought hard to secure places in next week's finale. NFL star Donald Driver did himself a great favor by performing a near-perfect round two Samba with partner Peta Murgatroyd.
But before the live performance, viewers learned a little more about Donald's troubled past and his competitive inspiration. After growing up very poor, he and his brother got into drugs. It was meeting wife Betina that prompted Donald to finally clean up his act.
Set to the tune of "Mr. Big Stuff", Donald and Peta's dance was smooth, theatrical and lots of fun. The judges agreed. Though head honcho Len Goodman said Donald had been a little bit careful at times, he still enjoyed it. Bruno Tonioli noted that it was "dangerous" to do a non-traditional Samba on DWTS, he found the final product "beautiful". Carrie Ann Inaba loved it, and told Donald simply that he'd brought his "A plus game".
Although Donald once again failed to get a 10 from Len, he and Peta did score an impressive 29 points. They ended the evening in third place behind leaders Maria Menounos and Derek Hough, who earned just two more points than the pair after the first and second round scores were combined.
To see if Donald Driver advances to the Dancing with the Stars 2012 finals, watch the results show tonight on ABC.
