Aviva Drescher is one of the new faces on The Real Housewives of New York City. This cousin of actress Fran Drescher was in a farming accident at just six years old and lost one of her legs.
Aviva wears a prosthetic and does not let being one limb short slow her down. She is a wife, a mother and has a number of college degrees under her belt.
Drescher says that being an amputee actually helped her in her love life. She would generally wait until the first or second date and then tell the guy. If he couldn't handle it, she knew that she could weed him out and move onto the next guy.
Aviva Drescher has a goal for being on The Real Housewives of New York City. She wants to raise awareness about amputees. Sure, she'll probably end up tangled in some drama because this is inevitable, but at least her initial intentions are good.
"If I can take the silliness of the show and use it to get a message out to other amputees particularly young girls -- yup, I'll take it," said Aviva.
Good for Aviva. Hopefully, Ramona and the other ladies will not run her off too quickly.
